C.K.A. Farming Activities

Connecting with Green Revolution and Agribusiness.

At City of Knowledge Academy, agriculture is not just taught in the classroom but practiced as an essential part of the students’ learning experience. The school’s farming activities provide students with the opportunity to develop practical agricultural skills, teamwork, discipline, and an appreciation for sustainable food production. Through active participation in farming projects, students are exposed to real-life experiences that prepare them for future opportunities in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

The students are actively involved in the cultivation of various crops such as cassava, corn, yam, vegetables, and potatoes. From land preparation and planting to weeding, irrigation, and harvesting, the students participate in every stage of the farming process. These activities help them understand the importance of agriculture in national development while also encouraging hard work, patience, and responsibility. The farm serves as a practical learning environment where students apply scientific and modern farming techniques under proper guidance.

In addition to crop farming, the students are also engaged in poultry farming as part of the school’s vocational and entrepreneurial training programme. They rear chickens from the brooding stage until maturity, learning the proper methods of feeding, hygiene maintenance, disease prevention, and overall poultry management. This hands-on experience equips the students with valuable knowledge and practical skills in animal husbandry.

One unique aspect of the programme is that the students are also trained in chicken processing and packaging for sales after maturity. This exposes them to the business aspect of agriculture and teaches them the principles of production, value addition, marketing, and financial responsibility. Under the dedicated supervision of Mr. John, the students receive proper guidance and mentorship throughout the entire farming process. His commitment and expertise have greatly contributed to the success of the agricultural programme and the development of the students’ practical skills.

The farming initiative at City of Knowledge Academy continues to inspire students to become productive, innovative, and self-reliant individuals while promoting the importance of agriculture as a vital sector for economic growth and community development.
