Ms. Abiola Lamikanra

On behalf of the Founder, Board of Trustees and staff of the City of Knowledge Academy, I warmly welcome you and your family to have a look at the school.

The choice of a school is usually a multi-generational decision in the 21st century. This is based on the importance families now place on educating their children; this is considered a legacy that will shape the child’s entire life, higher education decisions, career choices and ultimately the quality of life that will be achieved.

We are aware of the uniqueness of each child, the diversity of abilities, gifts, talents and interests that make up the individual child. We are also mindful that in the fast-evolving and changing times, children need to be equipped to make decisive and dynamic decisions based on a rapid reading of situations.

Every lesson taught in our school, every activity engaged in, is an opportunity to inspire the children to be ambitious thinkers, articulate and confident speakers, develop resilience, and be innovative, with the acquisition of excellent social skills.

Conscious that the children will need to navigate life in a digital age there is an emphasis in our school on the Internet of things and its application to every-day life. The entire CKA community is comfortable with the 4 Cs of the 21st century – Communication, Creativity, Collaboration and Critical Thinking positioning the children to be global influencers and leaders.

21st-century education is about giving students the skills they need to succeed in this new world and helping them grow the confidence to practice those skills. With so much information readily available to them, 21st-century skills focus more on making sense of that information, sharing and using it in smart ways.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

The emotions of a child are a priority; so social and emotional learning (SEL) is taken very seriously. It is delivered through PSHE (Physical Social & Health Education) classes and equips the children with the life skills that elevate their employability chances and positions them to navigate a successful path in life.

The school offers a range of opportunities that help each child discover their innate talents and abilities. The children are encouraged to take part in all the activities ranging from sports to Music to various types of school-based competitions.

To underpin all that is on offer in the school are the ethical pillars of the school – Culture Character Confidence. We focus on applying these to ensure the School’s Vision [To nurture confident and cultured global leaders of proven character deploying innovative techniques unrivalled anywhere in the world] is fulfilled in each student. The CKA alumni in universities at home and abroad are already validating that we are getting this right.

According to Edward Bulwer-Lytton ‘the best teacher is the one who suggests rather than dogmatizes, and inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself’. This is the aim of all that we do in our school. We encourage the children to take charge of their own learning, challenge them to perform every exercise excellently and believe in themselves. We cheer them on to be the best versions of themselves.

We, therefore, invite you to contact us by phone or better still pay the school a visit. The conversations we have with parents help us understand exactly what you are looking for in your quest for an excellent and suitable education for your child. We promise that your high expectations for your child’s future will be fulfilled in CKA.

We look forward to your visit.
